Homemade Electrolytes

Sports drinks are one of those great concepts but not-so-great things we can make better at home.

Many of us have come to accept that these electrolyte-filled drinks are a good thing when we are sick or planning a really hard workout.

And there are many instances where we do need the extra minerals and nutrients. They are a great way to support the immune system. They are also great for replenishing depleted mineral stores while pregnant or breastfeeding. 

But the premade drinks are usually loaded with questionable ingredients and sugar or sugar substitutes. Here's a great article explaining some of them

So here's the recipe I use to boost minerals and electrolytes for my family 

  • 8oz coconut water: loaded with potassium
  • 16oz filtered water
  • Juice or slices of 1 lemon
  • 1-2 tsp of Raw honey (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp Celtic, Himalayan, or Real Salt: TONS of minerals! Plus, we do need sodium from good sources.

Mix well and drink as needed.
